Laura Cox holds an MA from New York University in Dance and Dance Education with an emphasis in Kinesiology. She is a Certified Movement Analyst (CMA), a Registered Somatic Movement Educator (RSME) and a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist (RSMT) through ISMETA (International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association) with a specialty in injury prevention and chronic pain management.
A former professional dancer and choreographer, she has served on the dance faculties of Towson University, The University of Nebraska and New York University, and taught several courses in Kinesiology for Dancers at The University of Maryland. She has been a Master Teacher with the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies and teaches nationally and internationally.
Laura has a private practice in movement education and repatterning, and teaches courses and workshops in experiential anatomy. She is a co-author of EveryBody Is a Body, a text that has been translated into Chinese and Czech and is used in movement education courses world-wide.
