SUMMARY:Online BF Classes with Karen Studd
DESCRIPTION:Karen Studd\, WholeMovement co-founder\, is diving into the world of online sharing/teaching/moving through offering 3 short workshop classes. Three  1 -hour experiences will be offered to share her perspective and how she approaches aspects of the Laban/Bartenieff Movement  System. \nThese sessions are for free and will be offered to a select group of participants currently studying the LBMS material in international training programs.  \nThe classes will include: \n1)    A WholeMovement approach to BFs traditional Heel Rocks\, starting from the basics and clarifying the intent of this action. Next continuing to explore possible variations and linking the action to BF Connections\, Rhythms and Principles as well as the Basic 6. \n2)    A WholeMovement approach to the phenomenon of Rotation: what it is\, what it does\, and why it matters. Exploring rotation through the Laban/Bartenieff Movement System as an: Anatomical Action\, Basic Body Action\, Bartenieff Fundamental Principle and Metaphor. If time allows linking rotation to Patterns of Body Organization and to Basic 6 and to BF Rhythms and Space Harmony \n3)    Using the Physio Ball to connect to the Theme of Mobility Stability and finding the support of the underlying Basic 6 and the support of Bartenieff Fundamental Principles to Shape and Spatial Intent \nThe classes will be done through the Zoom online meeting format.\nThese will take place on 3 Fridays:  April 17\, 24\, and May 1st at 10am EST

SUMMARY:An Introduction to the Theory and Practice of the Laban/Bartenieff Movement System through a WholeMovement Approach
DESCRIPTION:A Three-Day LBMS Workshop May 2-4 with Karen Studd\n(Participate through ZOOM or in Shanghai)\n  \nContent of Workshop \nSystem Overview – Patterns – making sense of the world and ourselves in it -humans as pattern makers and pattern perceivers – all humans are already movement analysts – Identifying 3 large overall patterns as linked to our perception and experience \nObservation – through seeing\, sensing\, feeling and interpreting – how our awareness and language to support this process. \nExperience – What do you see? What do you experience? How would you describe a movement event? An experience of moving what you see and how this can deepen your understanding. \nIdentifying the parts of movement through the LBMS BESS Components (Body Effort Space and Shape) and how these parts relate to the whole \nThis introductory workshop will focus on: The foundational Duality of Self/Other – Body/Space Components and their relationship. We will also introduce how this Body/Space duality is linked to the Components of Shape and Effort through motivation\, intent\, interaction and context \nContact us for more details about this workshop: dmt@inspirees.com

SUMMARY:A Wholemovement Approach to Moving the Anatomy of Innersphere
DESCRIPTION:Led by Laura Cox & Hosted by Cat Maguire \nCat will be hosting a limited enrollment two episode movement exploration of the anatomy of the Innersphere (the space within the container of the body)\, led by Laura via Zoom\, with the goal of:  promoting enhanced awareness of the connection between and among parts of our anatomy to other parts; the connection of parts to the whole body; the connection of the whole body (as individual) to the wholeness of the space beyond the body (the interface between body and the support of the environment – Personal and General space). \nThursday\, May 21   10:00 AM to 11:30 AM\n“Exploring the Innersphere of Core/Distal Anatomical Relationship” \nThursday\, May 28  10:00 AM to 11:30 AM\n“Exploring the Innersphere of Upper/Lower Anatomical Relationship” \nIf you are interested in this or future classes please email catmaguire83@gmail.com.

SUMMARY:Intro to The Laban/Bartenieff Movement System (VA)
DESCRIPTION:Intro to The Laban/Bartenieff Movement System for Somatic Therapists & Practitioners with Laura Cox & Karen Studd\nPOSTPONED DUE TO COVID-19\nPlease check back for new dates and locations!\n  \nFor those engaged in somatic practices – learn how the Laban/Bartenieff Movement System (LBMS) can enhance your own experience and support your practice. \nLBMS is a comprehensive system used in understanding multiple aspects of human movement patterns. Using the LBMS framework\, this workshop will focus on awareness of movement in the context of somatic practice\, education and therapy. While all somatic practices value self-awareness as a key to living a rich and healthy life\, a benefit of LBMS as a somatic practice lies in the consideration of the space through which we move in daily life as a vital aspect of how we interact\, function and express ourselves in the world. \nWorkshop participants will gain an increased awareness of their own individual movement patterns and preferences through experience with basic Bartenieff Fundamentals sequences to reveal\, repattern and enhance movement function and expression. \nREGISTRATION:\nRegister by May 2nd and pay ONLY $85\nRegister between May 3rd and May 22nd and pay $100\nOn-site Registration: $115
